Discreet Users Group Formed

On January 21, 2004, a small group of volunteers braved the early morning cold to discuss the possibility of forming a Discreet Users Group for the Texas-Southwest region of the U.S. It was determined that a group of this nature would be advantages to not only the companies and individuals using Discreet products, but also for the film and post-production community in general.

The decision that was made to regularly assemble individuals in the video and film community that are either users or are interested in being future users of Discreet solutions. The group will convene every other month on the 3rd Tuesday between 6:45-8pm, locations TBD. The gathering of this group will provide a forum for sharing knowledge, techniques and solutions of common issues associated with usage of Discreet products. Also, it will provide a mechanism to deliver both positive and negative feedback to Discreet in Montreal.

This group will not only welcome Discreet users but will encourage presentations and input from auxiliary vendors such as SGI, Alias, and the various companies that complement Discreet products. All interested in parties are welcome, except representatives of competitive products.

Although a name was not determined, such titles as SWUG (Southwest Users Group), DUG (Dallas Users Group) and SCUG (South Central Users Group) were suggested. Also, until officers are elected, the original volunteers will serve as the interim Board of Directors to make any needed decisions.
