Moving Pictures Editorial adds Powerhouse Workstation

Dallas, Texas-January 29, 2004-Moving Pictures Editorial, (MPE), is proud to announce their recent purchase of an SGI® Onyx® 350, from I/O Partners. The SGI Onyx 350 is an advanced piece of hardware that dramatically speeds the rendering process in editorial sessions. The decision to purchase a SGI Onyx 350, from I/O Partners, was based on last year's move to purchase a Discreet smoke MXE. The smoke is an all-in-one integrated creative editing and finishing system that added to MPE's formidable editing arsenal.

"MPE has grown a lot over the last two years," John Mathis, CEO and president of MPE said. "We have expanded our clientele, equipment and physical space. The decision to purchase the Onyx 350 was made based on the company's growth, and of course the nature of our clients' productions and their graphics-intensive needs."

Two years ago MPE purchased Discreet's non-linear on-line system, fire, and in May of last year added the smoke on an SGI® Octane® MXE adding more flexibility and speed. The Onyx 350 entirely augments the computing power of fire.

MPE's fire editor, Bill Lintner, has had over 25 years experience in the editing field and has worked with fire for six years. Lintner has experienced first-hand the continuous change and increase in speed and ability with previous Onyxs.

"The Onyx 350 has the throughput, bandwidth, texture memory and connectivity that is needed to keep the graphics engine running at full speed," Lintner said.

I/O Partners' VP of Sales, Bill Porter, said, "We are extremely pleased that Moving Pictures has purchased the computing muscle they will need to continue on their growth curve. They are a visionary post-facility and adding and Onyx 350 proves just that."
